Experiments in lighting - home studio, part 1

One of my resolutions for 2008 is to get my photography business started and one area in which I'm weak is lighting. Manray and I spent the afternoon trying out different lighting setups and poses - I know little about lighting but I don't know diddly squat about posing and thankfully she came up with some good ones.

The "studio" was set up in our living room, the D200 was video-tethered to the TV so she could review the images as I shot. I took most of the photos with a 36" white umbrella on the key but on a hunch I removed the umbrella for a few shots I really like the look of this harsher lighting.

Speedlight setup:

SB-800 camera left, 4' from model, TTL, diffuser dome
SB-600 model right, 4' from model, Manual 1/16 power, homemade snoot
Both fired via CLS
