I have had the great fortune of knowing and photographing the Lager's ever since Mom's pregnancy and I was honored to be asked to photograph them again, this time for their Christmas portraits. My favorite is above and here are some others from their session:

Wasatch Woman Magazine Editorial Meeting
Howdy, readers...thought you might enjoy seeing a behind-the-scenes series of the Wasatch Woman editorial advisory team selecting the magazine's Woman of the Year (and 5 runners up). These were taken a local cafe (Caffe Niche, Salt Lake City, UT) one morning earlier last week. In the center shot above is Pamela Baumeister, the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine and the face behind @wasatchwoman on Twitter.
More shots of the women working:

Yes indeed, the Schytts are a real band (photo of the presentation "Promoting your Band" by Stuart Maxfield).
Anyhoo...I sponsored the inaugural Ignite talk series on 13 November 2008 here in Salt Lake City by offering my photographic services and I had a fantastic time shooting and watching the inspiring presentations put on by the speakers.
"What is Ignite?" you say? From their web site, http://ignite.oreilly.com/:
If you had five minutes on stage what would you say? What if you only got 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds? Around the world geeks have been putting together Ignite nights to show their answers.
Ignite was started in Seattle in 2006 by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis. Since then 100s of 5 minute talks have been given across the world. There are thriving Ignite communities in Seattle, Portland, Paris, and NYC.
SLC's 1st Ignite series was a great success and the coordinators are already planning Ignite Salt Lake 2 - check out their web site for info on becoming a speaker, a sponsor or attending the talks.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the evening:
Winners of the paper airplane contest, including Josh Coates of Mozy.com ("Effective Tactical Responses in a Post-Apocalyptic Environment or Zombie Defense for n00bs") and local social media wunderkind Jesse Stay ("Facebook Development in 5 minutes")
BYU's Jeremy Grimshaw ("Everything you ever wanted to know about Southeast Asian wet rice cultivation but were afraid to ask; or, why I started a Balinese music group in Provo")
Mike Moore ("Sequential Art ")

The Hotel Cafe Tour: Salt Lake City, UT
Earlier this week my editor (at Wasatch Woman magazine) sent me to cover The Hotel Cafe Tour:
...For the past 4 years, The Hotel Café has been presenting a tour that has hit every major market in the United States and UK. The concept of the tour was to share the same community vibe with music fans all over the country. Artists performed solo and would then share the stage with fellow tour mates. No cookie cutter corporate American Idols, just real music, written by real artists, surrounded by real friends, who actually have a story to tell.
Salt Lake's stop included artists Kate Havnevik, Rachael Yamagata, Meiko, Emily Wells, Lenka and Thao Nguyen and it was an excellent show!
Here are some of my favorites from the night:
